Gold Thread Lace also known as Aurillac Lace Text: Mrs. Bury Palliser's History of Lace
What a rich history! Originally done by Jews, and later by Italy for ecclesiastical purposes. It was prohibited by Queen Anne in 1711 resulting in forfeiture and fines. Monopoly under James I and under George II confiscated and burning took place. Seemingly the best of the best!
Battenburg Lace which is a tape lace. Text: Antique Lace: Identifying Types and Techniques by Toomer/Voysey

Handmade Chantilly Lace Text: Antique Lace: Identifying Types and Techniques by Toomer/Voysey. 1850-1890 In 1840 Europeans turned from cream laces to black laces. Made of dull black silk thread known as grenadine. Chantilly was one of the favorite laces of the French Court in the 1850-1860's but with the collapse of the Second Empire in 1870 and with fashion changes it brought a drastic reduction on the market and returned to fashion in 1890's.
